Jane Hathaway (1936–2000) was a Kansas writer and longtime assistant editor of Chiron Review. Working behind the scenes as well as contributing creatively, she was part of the small, close-knit group that sustained the magazine during its formative decades. She continued as assistant editor until her death on February 20, 2000, at age sixty-three. Her association with the magazine forms part of Chiron Review’s history as a family-supported, grassroots literary publication created and produced far from the traditional centers of American publishing.
