Clifton Snider (1947–2021) was an American poet, novelist, literary critic, scholar, and educator. The author of numerous poetry collections and novels, his books include Moonman: New and Selected Poems, The Alchemy of Opposites, Aspens in the Wind, and Wrestling with Angels. A longtime professor at California State University, Long Beach, he was also an important early scholar of gay and lesbian literature. His creative and critical work frequently drew upon queer experience, spirituality, mythology, psychology, and Jungian thought.
